VOCAL has over 20 years experience with DSP-based embedded product development, taking a novel concept to finished product through
VOCAL's practical knowledge brings many benefits for our customers and licensees, whether requirements are for complete product development (including hardware design, BOM, board bring-up, and custom software integrated within our lightweight network operating system), product optimization, or the integration of new functionality into an existing product.
Our proven technology has been successfully deployed in over 10 million ports shipped by our customers in the last 10 years. VOCAL has extensive familiarity with a variety of platforms and products. This includes all manner of communications applications, such as ATAs, VoIP servers and CPE, VoIP speakerphones, HPNA-based IPBXs, video surveillance, voice and data RF devices, government secure communications devices, lawful interception software, medical devices, embedded modems, and facsimile (Group 3 and T.38 Fax Relay).
For example, a DSP-based product might implement a full 4-channel ATA whereas a similar RISC processor-based product would rarely support more than a 2-channel configuration. For larger channel densities, the applications scale to the use of a full operating system such as embedded Linux. VOCAL's reference designs are scalable to a customer's specific product requirements. It is possible to integrate networking, signaling, data, and data processing on a single chip in order to provide a complete solution.
Reducing or eliminating the need for separate DSP components will result in lower BOM cost. Other benefits include improvements in power utilization, system, efficiency, future upgrade paths, and even overall product performance. Software development and integration is greatly simplified by providing a single lightweight, networked environment.
VOCAL's highly experienced engineers will work smoothly with your engineering staff to develop new technologies and integrate licensed components into your product. Our expertise with embedded systems and firmware integration means significant cost-savings, with quicker development time and products that not only work, but work better.
