VOCAL provides solutions on various DSP, RISC and CISC processors. DSP platforms include Texas Instruments families, Analog Devices families, Starcore, and DSP Group cores. General purpose processors include x86, ARM, MIPS and Power-PC. Many single and multi-channel solutions for the voice and modem networking markets have been implemented under contract for our customers. Over 10 million ports have been shipped by our customers over the past 10 years. These products used VOCAL's voice processing, data and facsimile modulations, data protocols, facsimile command sets, and network protocol stacks. Numerous high density server systems have been developed using VOCAL software, each meeting extensive interoperability standards.
VOCAL has developed its On-One DSP technology to reduce product costs. By running all DSP functions and application protocols under a simple lightweight network operating system (LANsEND), high density processing can be exploited by today's innovative products. For example, a DSP-based product might implement a full 4-channel ATA whereas a similar RISC processor-based product would rarely support more than a 2-channel configuration. For larger channel densities, the applications scale to the use of a full operating system such as embedded Linux. VOCAL's reference designs are scalable to a customer's specific product requirements.
